ABOUT US
What started as a senior project at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, has dovetailed into a multi-year mission to bring the gift of mobility and freedom to the corners of the earth. Since 2007, the SV Wheelchair Project team has taken part in multiple distributions delivering over 5000 wheelchairs to those in need.
Each trip leverages partnerships abroad with a strong local consignee, and monies raised through friends, family, local businesses, and local non-profits and foundations like Rotary.
We choose our distribution sites based on where we have the strongest local partner, coupled with a great need for the wheelchairs. We've worked with the military, local governments, NGOs and Rotary clubs from around the world to bring these projects from concept to fruition.
Every dollar raised goes directly to the purchase of wheelchairs and their shipping costs. Each member of the SV Wheelchair Project is responsible for their own travel costs, so a dollar for dollar contribution goes directly to the wheelchairs.
